A free race training clinic for competitors will be held on 2nd April where athletes can hone their race starts and learn about tactics and strategies to race like a pro.

Spectators will be able to see all the race action from Alexandra Headland near the memorial for Korean War Veterans.  The wave and freestyle action can be viewed right off the beach at the spit or from the Mooloolaba rock wall.  All the action will be viewable as a live stream (on the Courier Mail website - to be confirmed - imminent).

Competitors can register to compete in the following classes:

Kite Foil - Elite - flying race kites and race foils these athletes will be reaching speeds of 70km/hr on the open ocean and hoping to make all their tacks and gybes seamlessly to complete the race with no-one in front.

Formula X - Flying inflatable "tube" kites and freeride foils these athletes will be doing thier best to avoid spectator friendly wipeouts at high speed whilst battling the ocean conditions.  Getting around the course dry may be a challenge but its great fun.

Wing Foil Race - The slow coaches of the event are also the most refined craft.  Their connection to the wind and ocean is the greater than any other sail craft.  Every subtle flicker of energy change, whether its in the air or water, is felt directly and immediately through their arms or legs.  Wing Racing is new, its the feeder class for elite kite racing and the larger fleet racing will be tight and exciting to watch.

Wing Foil Wave/Expression Loyal to the foil these athletes will be riding the unrideable lumps of the ocean; Breaching from the water to glide by the wind, carving the biggest cut backs you've ever seen at high speed.
