Event Overview

The Secret Harbour Wave Classic is hitting the water on 19 December, with 20 December locked in as the backup date. This is a wave event built around community, progression and a huge day on the beach — bringing riders together for fun heats, donated prizes, bragging rights and a Saturday night celebration upstairs at Secret Harbour Surf Life Saving Club.

If you ride waves, this is your event. Whether you’re building confidence in the surf, pushing your next manoeuvre or charging hard with the local crew, the day is all about getting involved, sharing the stoke and keeping the beach atmosphere pumping.

What to Expect

Expect a big, buzzing day of wave riding with plenty of time on the water. Where conditions and numbers allow, two heats will run at once to keep the action moving and give riders more opportunities to get amongst it. As the event heads toward finals, the format will shift into single-heat runs for a proper head-to-head-style showdown.

This is not States or Nationals, it’s a local community classic with a relaxed, high-energy feel. The focus is participation, progression, good vibes and celebrating wave riding in WA.

Spectators can settle into the beach zone with the Harlem marquee, bean bags and chairs, making it easy to kick back, cheer riders on and stay close to the action. Bring your crew, bring the energy and help turn the beach into the loudest part of the event.

Bonus Sessions and Beach Challenges

Alongside the main wave heats, the day will feature fun extras designed to get everyone involved. Look out for the strapless freestyle expression session and the crowd-pleasing Spin-the-Wheel board challenge, where riders take on the waves using whatever vintage, oddball or comedy board the wheel decides.

Who Should Enter?

All levels are welcome. If you’re a developing rider keen to gain experience in a supportive event environment, this is for you. If you’re a seasoned wave charger ready to put on a show, this is for you too. The Secret Harbour Wave Classic is about the whole wave community coming together, riders, mates, families, spectators and volunteers.
