2026/2027 Season Membership Changes Information

Membership Updates
In line with modernising our governance and creating more efficient operations, KA will be implementing a standardised membership period for all members. The annual membership period will run start on 1 September and expire on 31 August annually. This means that once the changes are in place, all members will have the same expiry date of 31 August - a single date for all kiters and wingers to remember every year.
This change is consistent with how many National Sporting Organisations and sports operate – making it easier for members to know they’re covered all year-round. The change also allows KA to better service our members in the lead up to each summer season of activities, rather than manage membership renewals on a monthly basis.
This change requires a bit of work behind the scenes and will be done in several phases prior to 1 September, with some members transitioning to the new arrangement sooner than others. Below is a summary of the changes:
1. Members with automatic renewals – no immediate changes
Members who are set up with automatic renewals will not have any changes until after 31 August 2027 (next year). If you’re membership is renewing in the next 12 months, please make sure you’re credit card details are up to date in the membership system, revSPORT.
2. Renewing members without automatic renewals in place
Members who are not set up with automatic renewal (the majority of KA members) and renew their membership after 1 September 2026 will all have a consistent expiry date of 31 August 2027 from the next time they are due to renew.
Members will be charged a pro-rata amount based on the number of months from their renewal date to 31 August 2027. This ensures renewing members are paying an equitable amount no matter when their membership falls due throughout the year. From 1 September 2027, renewing members will pay for a 12 month-period through to 31 August 2028.
For example:
- If a membership product is $120 for 12 months and the member’s renewal occurs in October 2026, the member will only be charged for October to 31 August, which would be 11 months ($110).
- If a membership product is $120 for 12 months and the member’s renewal occurs in January 2027, the member will only be charged for January to 31 August, which would be 8 months ($80).
For renewing members to take advantage of this pro rata arrangement, please ensure you renew prior to your membership is expiring so it doesn’t lapse.
3. New members
New members that sign up for KA membership between 1 September 2026 and 30 March 2027, will be charged the full membership amount (i.e. the new member prices listed on our website), regardless of when the join during that period, with all memberships expiring on 31 August 2027.
4. KA will provide further information on options for new members signing up between 1 April 2027 and 31 August 2027 early next year.

2026/2027 Season Membership Fees
Aligned to the commencement of the new membership period, KA has reviewed its membership fees and chosen to apply a minor fee increase across all membership categories.
For our full membership products, this is the first time fees have been increased since 2021, despite significant increases in the cost of delivery of our comprehensive insurance program.
In applying fee increases for the upcoming seasons, we have prioritised maintain the best value for our current and renewing members. For an adult full member renewal, the increase will be $5.10 for the year– less that 10 cents per week, or less than a cup of coffee per year.
As a not-for-profit organisation predominantly run by passionate volunteers, all proceeds of membership are invested back into the sport, ensuring we members have access to world-class insurance, to develop events and participation opportunities, to give us a voice to advocate to keep your beaches open and accessible, to increase safety awareness and to growth of the sport through our school accreditation and training programmes.
