Kiteboarding Australia to modernise governance following Special General Meeting

Published Fri 26 Jun 2026

Kiteboarding Australia (KA) is pleased to advise the outcome of a Special General Meeting (SGM) held on 25 June 2026.

The SGM was convened to consider amendments to the Kiteboarding Australia Limited Constitution, designed to modernise the governance of the sport and to introduce an enhanced hybrid governance model including the introduction of State Committees in jurisdictions where State Associations have become less active or are no longer operating.

The process of updating the constitution and reviewing our governance has come about through working with the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) as they seek to improve the capability of sporting organisations across Australia. ASC’s objective is to create an effective and sustainable national sport sector.

Our new constitution was approved at the SGM and will come into effect at the conclusion of Kiteboarding Australia’s Annual General Meeting on 22 October 2026.

A dedicated webpage has been established to update our kiteboarding and winging community on the implementation of the new constitution and governance arrangements: Kiteboarding Australia Governance and Constitution Updates - Kiteboarding Australia

With an exciting season of events ahead, the board and management of KA look forward to working with the kiting and winging community in implementing changes to support the growth of our sport around Australia.
