The Fever - May

Published Sun 16 May 2021

It’s been a big few months in the kitefoiling space as we transition into a winter season that is sure to provide some epic foiling conditions for all. This edition of the fever includes information about upcoming clinics and regattas in our northern states. These clinics will offer up some great training and racing options in warmer weather and will be ideal for those looking to escape the winter vibes of southern states. We have clinics and events coming up in Northern Queensland at the end of June, and if you are looking for a great week of warm foiling, and some epic racing, then I absolutely encourage you to come along. It will be a big weekend in Townsville with the V8 supercars also in town, so be sure to book early.

The ASF program sailors have also been announced and the first team camp has been held to kickstart the development of sailors who will make up the next generation of this class. Technical camps for these sailors will be held around the country over the next 12 months, and will be sure to push our athletes and showcase the sport in different communities around the country.

In other news, look out for upcoming news about introductory kite-foil clinics popping up at the KA Season Launch Expo's around the country, as well as some other launch style events in southern states when the thermal season starts again. We are very keen to run a launch camp in NSW and Victoria when the thermal season starts again, so if you are interested, please send an EOI to the email provided below.

Please use the update section below to also find news and relevant EOI information about potential launch camp options over the coming months. We are currently looking to roll out camps and training support with local coaches and clubs to bolster the daily training environment in ‘location appropriate’ training hubs. If you or your local training community have ideas on this space for your area, please feel free to reach out to see if more assistance can be provided.

KITEBOARDING AUSTRALIA SEASON LAUNCH EXPOS
Can’t get to a clinic or camp? This year we are looking at providing a clinic style exposure event to the basics of kitefoiling at the KA Season launch events in each state. These events will run every 2 weeks, rotating around each state from September to November. These events are a great way to meet new people, find out about new gear hitting the market, and learn some new skills to take into the new season. More information to come soon.

WHAT IS A 'LAUNCH CAMP'?
If you are competent at kiteboarding, curious in kite-racing or wanting to get into either, then a launch camp may be for you. Designed to give you a taste for the progression and performance of kite racing, the camp will help you understand your optimal pathway, enhance safety and meet likeminded people in your community to get better, together. It is a pre-requisite for these camps to already be a competent kiteboarder who can stay upwind on a twin tip and has reasonable kite relaunch skills in moderate winds. For more information on where to learn the entry level skills to kiteboarding, find a Kiteboarding Australia Kite School in your area.

COVID-19
For the up and coming events, each state shall be following the restrictions, issued by the state/territories.
For more information, >> Click Here. All activities, the host club and AS are adhering to these guidelines.

The calendar of all official AS events can be viewed via the AS website here; please remember to check back to the calendar for updates
