Kiteboarding Victoria Freestyle State TItles

Published Sat 17 Feb 2018

St Kilda was graced with a classic summers day to hold the annual Kiteboarding Victoria Freestyle State Title. Although the seabreeze took it's time to fire up, it did not disappoint when it arrived blowing a solid 20 knots.

The Juniors were first to hit the water with Aaron Kenny taking 1st place showcasing his great freestyle skills on the water. Ben Savage wasn't far behind Aaron and the new to competition Dougal Bland took third place showing great potential for his freestyle career.

The Masters were throwing down their classic old school tricks whilst throwing in progressive moves too. After Marks eye opening F-16 crash, he went on to nail it later in his heat, securing him the title.

Katie Potter backed up her form from the National Titles in Safety Bay earlier this year executing a number of technical passes. Kirsteen and Jo, although new to freestyle competition styled their way onto the podium next to Katie

In the men's, Dan Sweeney has made his return to competition making his way out of retirement and straight to the top spot. Aaron Kenny closely followed Dan in 2nd and arguably could have won the competition if Dan did not secure his backmobe on his last run.

Overall it was a great day on the water in perfect St Kilda conditions. Thank you to the our main competition partner Classic Holidays and also to the team at Kiteboarding Victoria for putting together a great event.
