The 2017 Queensland Freestyle State Titles kicked off the start the National Freestyle Series over the weekend. The states top competitors hit the water on the Sunshine Coasts premier flat water location Cotton Tree. Amongst a week of rain, the sun poked out to allow the competitors to battle it out on the Saturday with the North Easterly seabreeze blowing.
The local Sunshine Coast ripper Manny Blanch emerged victorious in the open men’s laying down a series of technical handle passes in the flat water conditions. Matt Buchan came in 2nd and Manny’s brother Jono finished in 3rd.
In the women’s it was veteran Sammy Stock who took out the 1st showcasing pure style and elegance on the water.
Sunshine Coast local Beau Blake emerged victorious in the juniors, next year Beau will be in the open mens, so we wish Beau all the best! The junior participation in the event was strong and we look forward to seeing the new generation come through in the years to follow
Event organiser Jarrett Stock said “ I’m so stoked to have had the break in weather to allow the competition to run, we’ve had really strong support from the competitors and we are stoked to see such a high level of riding in Queensland”.
A big thankyou to the event organising committee, our key series sponsor Classic Holidays, event sponsors, riders and spectators for coming together and making a great event happen. See you next year.
